Family And Community Empowerment Support (FACES)

What is FACES?

Family And Community Empowerment Support (FACES) is a non-political welfare service oriented voluntary organisation. It was established in August 2003 in order to provide services for the poor, the distressed and disadvantaged groups of people who are living inhuman lives due to the lack of adequate and useful service oriented programmes for them.

Aims

The aim of FACES is to support and promote the conditions of the people with disabilities, children in especially difficult circumstances, oppressed women, helpless elderly people and empowerment of the disadvantaged groups of people who are living below the poverty level.

Free Friday Clinic

The Free Friday Clinic operates from 10:00 am on every Friday under the care of experienced doctors. Members from
lower income group families, slum-people and people living in the street who are unable to pay doctor's
fees, get free treatment service from this Clinic. Moreover, patients with serious
illness and disabled people are helped to get proper treatment facilities
through referral services of FACES. It conducts regular free medical campaign in urban slums and rural communities.

Objectives

  1. to conduct awareness raising programmes;
  2. to protect the rights of the people with disabilities and ensure their equal opportunities and full participation in the mainstream of society.
  3. to protect the rights of children, to prevent child abuse, child trafficking and child labour
    and to organise programmes for the disadvantaged and distressed children for their education, training and rehabilitation.
